Inside-Out Letter Ministry and all its volunteers are dedicated to witnessing to people who are bound, internally and externally, in darkness and in iron, about the Gospel of Jesus. One in thirty-three men and women who cross your path everyday have been incarcerated in American's network of prisons. But don't worry, we aren't bad people. We just made some bad decisions in life. We could be innocent considering an upward of 6% of those incarcerated in America are. Regardless, we have been commissioned to witness for Jesus Christ, no matter our divided denominations. Not because that is what we should do, but who we are. As Jesus says: "...teach all... the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.. I have COMMAND you "(Matt 28:19-20. Who are we to assume all prisoners know the way to Salvation?
Amazingly, an estimated 9 out of 10 prisoners are open to talk about Christianity to someone outside of prison. This being because, in prison, guards are held high and love is not something we are "suppose" to show. Also a lot of prisoners will go months sometimes years without hearing from someone on the outside. What an opportunity for Christians to step in during this time of loneliness and sow the seed to salvation and Love! And who are we to say prisoners do not deserve that?
The hopelessness and anxiety in prison is devastating to see. Being cut off from society, prisoners yearn to be free and surrounded by family and familiar things and comforts. More importantly we see what got us here. We see drugs, the broken relationships and pain. A life of deterioration and corruption, being the outcast... We wish to have the shame washed away. We crave forgiveness and long to experience the feeling of having our little girls and boys and the rest of our families proud of us, to become a new person on the inside and out. But it's so hard to stop the cycle. There is only One who can heal our broken souls. Only one who can wash the guilt and shame away with blood, being made anew. That is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our burden bearer!
Inside-Out letter Ministry is giving an opportunity for volunteers- who are willing to cast their judgments aside- to witness an encourage Fathers, Brothers, Mothers, Sisters, Sons, and Daughters, who wish to build a relationship with Jesus Christ and establish that strong sense of empowering fellowship with avid Christian believers.
By volunteering, God can use your letters to bring a captive out of darkness: bringing their innermost feelings and belief in Jesus out into the open. Helping God turn our United States prisoners Inside- Out, improving our communities, and dramatically reducing their recidivism rate!
